Laura Ingraham associates single mothers with “inner- cities.”

On Thursday’s episode of the “O’reilly Factor,” Fox News Contributor Laura Ingraham was brought on to discuss the octuplet mom situation with host, Bill O’reilly.  The following is a transcript of their conversation provided by Fox News on their website.

O’REILLY: All I’m asking right now is that we protect these babies and the other six children under the age of 8. Fourteen children, that’s all.

INGRAHAM: Well, Bill, where do you — right, but OK, but what I’m saying to you is if you go down this road with these kids, and obviously we hope for nothing but the best for these children. They’re going to have probably a difficult time, but we don’t know. We don’t know. You better be prepared to go down this road with other single mothers.

O’REILLY: Not if you make…

INGRAHAM: Inner-city situations

O’REILLY: Wait, this is different

Nowhere in the conversation previously did the thought of inner-cities come up. Ingraham asserted this in reference to “people who can’t take care.” It’s clear that Ingraham associates single motherhood with inner-cities.

While Ingraham maybe correct , statistically, the association of single motherhood with inner-cities is damaging. It ignores the socioeconomic conditions that may contribute to this “problem.”

Although race was not mentioned, Laura Ingraham is displaying the mindset of a racist. Associating single mothers is the same as associating african americans with crime; it’s what racists do. Laura Ingraham is a racist.
