More Anti-Gay Bigotry From Laura Ingraham? You be the Judge!

The website The New Civil Rights Movement dot com, which is a gay equality site, took issue with Ingraham tweeting “Oh No” about a transgender man proposing to his partner at the White House. Here’s what writer David Badash wrote:Laura Ingraham, a Fox News host and conservative radio commentator, today made what certainly seems to be an apparent transphobic attack on love and marriage. Ingraham posted a link to a Huffington Post article on a marriage proposal by a transgender man that took place during Friday’s White House LGBT Pride reception, and wrote, “Oh no…” as her commentary..

Badash did his homework on Ingraham, as he noted Ingraham’s anti-gay past at Dartmouth in which she referred to gays a “sodomites”, and dubiously taped a meeting of gay students, outing them in the process. In addition, Badash also noted that Ingraham’s brother is gay. Apparently after seeing her brother’s partner die of AIDS, Ingraham softened her stance and began to be more accepting of the need for protection of gays. Still, Ingraham continues to espouse anti-gay bigotry. As this website has pointed out, in 2009, Ingraham was voted one of the most anti-gay pundits in America by GLAAD.

Laura Ingraham (Host, The Laura Ingraham Show)
Transgender people were repeatedly used as punching bags by Fox News Channel and guest Laura Ingraham, even as violence and harassment against transgender people continued with disturbing frequency throughout 2008. While guest hosting Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor on February 8, Ingraham interrupted a guest by saying that a transgender conference was “killing the culture.” Earlier this year on The O’Reilly Factor, she questioned how parents of a transgender youth “aren’t embarrassed” by their child, and most recently, on December 11, she alluded that being gay is a “bad choice” when discussing a Newsweek feature on marriage for same-sex couples.

Laura Ingraham has one of the most hateful pasts when it comes to minorities, especially gays. Please check this site for more of Laura’s anti-gay rhetoric and actions.
