Ingraham claims Sotomayor “rooted in this idea that ethnicity and racial identity can trump settled concepts of law.” Of course this is not true. Out of 50 of her most recent discrimination cases, Judge Sotomayor ruled agaisnt discrimination 97% of the time. The Wall Street has praised Sotomayor’s record. Ingraham or the rest of the conservatives who make this claim can not back it up!
Laura Ingraham actually outdoes The Savage Nation and says Obama wants Americans to die younger, but this line about Sotomayor is pretty awful too: “She’s got ovaries, and she’s Puerto Rican.”
Does Fox Sunday still want Laura Ingraham for the panel?
I stumbled upon this Newsday article today. It highlights the attacks from various conservative pundits. “The conservative pundit Laura Ingraham attacked the Sotomayor nomination and President Barack Obama’s emphasis of her Hispanic background, stating that we don’t need black, white or Latina judges, but judges who follow the Constitution. Virtually every day Rush Limbaugh rails that only the conservatives want judges who follow the Constitution rather than their personal beliefs.”
What Laura Ingraham is basically saying there is that President Obama picked Judge Sonia Sotomayor because she is Hispanic; nevermind the fact that Judge Sotomayor has been on the Federal bench for 17 years. Nevermind the fact that Judge Sotomayor judged more cases than any other Supreme Court Justice. Nevermind the fact that she graduated first in her class at Princeton. It’s because she’s a minority. Do you see how racist Laura Ingraham is?
